In order to extract maximum value from data and improve their operational efficiency, modern companies invest in intelligent environments based on new technologies. The aim of this scientific research is to explore the potential of Big Data, Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies for improving smart business environments and their role as tools for digital transformation, achieving competitive advantage and sustainable business development. In this regard, the research object is the development of intelligent business environments, and the research subject – the place and role of Big Data, IoT and AI in this development. In order to achieve the aim, in this monographic paper the characteristics and trends in modern business environments are systematized as well as the main advantages, challenges and requirements of IoT and Big Data in intelligent environments; the key tools and technologies for their application are presented; their practical application in the business environment of Bulgaria is studied; the role of AI in smart environments is explored.
