ABSTRACT 171
ABSTRACT
The book focuses on the theoretical and practical aspects of stress research and management in an organizational environment. The views on the human factor’s behaviour and attitude to the environment in which they perform their professional activities are discussed. A theoretical overview of the concepts of stress is made. Theoretical ideas of leading authors in this field are presented for studying the problems. The approaches determining the trends of stress research in the environment in which people perform their professional activities are discussed. This is a prerequisite for diagnosing the stressful situation and stressors which affect people’s behaviour in the process of work. Some of the most popular models of stress research are structurally classified. These models are grouped in two trends – classical and modern. Managers need their chronology and cognitive effect to establish the nature of stress and its manifestation in an organizational environment. Some empirical data are presented about the impact of stress on human factor’s behaviour in the Republic of Bulgaria and EU countries. An attempt is made to develop a socially adaptive model for effective stress management. This model has methodological and practical significance as it focuses on the impact of organizational factors on human behaviour and their perceptions of environment stressors.
