ABSTRACT
The management and development of the information society are related to the need for quantitative and qualitative assessment of the established conditions for distribution and use of ICT in certain areas of public life. This necessitates the application of a statistical approach to collecting, processing and analyzing information.
The subject of research in this paper is the information society. The aim is to clarify key aspects of the statistical survey on information society and, by using statistical methods, analyze the trends and regularities in its state and dynamics in Bulgaria. The nature of the information society as a subject of the statistical study has been clarified; the main sources of data and statistical indicators for measurement, applied in the practice of international organizations, have been presented. The methodological aspects of a statistical survey on the use of information and communication technologies, which has been conducted in the European Union, have been presented and their peculiarities in Bulgaria have also been given.
An economic and statistical analysis of the dynamics and structure of indicators, characterizing the information society in Bulgaria, has been carried out and the emerging trends have been modelled.
