ABSTRACT

The monograph studies the role of cognitive models and approaches in management. It discusses the interaction between them and determines their place in the process of formation of sustainable managerial behaviour and corporate strategy. A new managerial methodology is developed – Cognitive topology, which helps to specify the managerial goals and tasks and to form optimal managerial behaviour. The thesis imposed is that Cognitive topology underlies a company’s adaptation processes to the dynamically changing company’s external and internal environment. The empirical study on the model of Cognitive topology and managerial behaviour helps to determine its significance for the development of business and managerial practice.

Cognitive topology is a system of cognitive indicators, which enables an organization to form managerial goals and to initiate strategic changes. Its task is to determine the optimal managerial behaviour in various managerial situations. The monograph achieves this task by studying the level of compatibility between the activities going in three main managerial trends – human relations, work environment and managerial processes. Behavioural features and characteristics are assigned a key place in creating the Cognitive topology. They are the methodological nucleus, which enables the formation of managerial competences and approaches that lead to optimal behaviour and sustainable outcomes in business.
